  • Procurement Services has issued a new form to provide the University community with guidance and a method of managing requests pertaining to hotel and event services that are being paid via Travel Card and require a document to be signed. It is located in HuskyBuy on the home shopping page under Internal Request Forms. This will prompt the submitter to provide all pertinent information that is needed for Procurement and Contracting to execute the agreement required by the venue or supplier.
  • Please note that the supplier does not need to be an existing supplier in HuskyBuy.
  • Click on the Hotel & Events Services Form to learn how to complete your request.
  • For more information, please contact terri.lessard@uconn.edu or kristin.allen@uconn.edu.

Foundation Event Update

  • Travel Cards can now be used to pay for Foundation funded events.
  • Once an event is approved using the Hotel & Events Services Form, a Travel Card can be used for payment and a requisition no longer needs to be processed.

Scholarship Criteria for Protected Classes

  • In scholarships/fellowships that have specific criteria in relation to protected classes (gender, race, etc.), funds can be awarded in two ways:
    • Pool and match process, in which everyone gets a scholarship regardless.
    • Ranked on all criteria except for the protected class requirement (for example, if there is a requirement that candidates should be female and the top candidate is a male, the male should be awarded a different scholarship of the same value).
    • Please note that if the protected class is a preference and not a requirement, top candidates should be awarded whether they meet the protected class requirement or not.

  • For department administrators interested in learning more about grant compliance requirements and why Grant Management Services sometimes requests additional documentation, please consider completing the web-based interactive SPS Federal Cost Principles training available via SABA or the Cost Allowability on Federally Sponsored Awards training available via https://www.citiprogram.org/. CLAS Shared Services Information Technology

  • The migration away from Google is still moving forward. The first step in this process is to review the data you have in Google and clean up anything that is no longer needed. ITS continues to update the Knowledge Base with helpful information. If you have questions or need help, please email CLASIT@uconn.edu.
  • NETID Changes from ITS: A NetID is a unique, public identifier that is assigned to every individual associated with the University.  These are perpetual and have traditionally followed the format of three letters and five numbers.  The letter group at the beginning is loosely based on an individual’s legal name.  The five numbers signify creation year and a sequence value of that letter group for that year.  This process ensures that NetIDs can be created efficiently.
  • We have received feedback that the association with legal name is an issue under a number of different circumstances.  In response, we are considering randomizing the three letters.  This would remove any connection to legal name while still preserving uniqueness.  We are tentatively planning to begin issuing NetIDs after January 9 using this format.
